Step 1. Create a TradeSchool account. Use https://secure.tradeschoolinc.com/v5/jatc26-org/login/index.php to visit the TradeSchool login page. Click on “create account”, complete the email and password fields. You will receive an email from messaging@secure.tradeschoolinc.com, it may go to your spam folder. Open the email and click on the TradeSchool link. This will allow you to enter your account information. If you are not a member of Local 26 type “pending” in the member # field. Select “unclassified” if you do not hold a Local 26 classification. Log into TradeSchool and start your online application. A $125 processing fee is payable before you can begin entering information into your application.
Step 2. Login to TradeSchool using your email and the password you created, in step one. Click on the application tab to begin the application process. From the drop-down menu, select Apprentice Application. The following options are all apprenticeship programs, but vary by location and type. (Inside Metro Area – 5 year apprenticeship to become inside journeyman, training in the DC metro and surrounding area; Inside Roanoke Area – 5 year apprenticeship to become inside journeyman, training in Roanoke and the surrounding area; Technology Services Metro Area – 3 year apprenticeship to become telecommunications technician, training in the DC metro and surrounding area)
Step 3. Complete all the required elements of the JATC application. Elements must be submitted to show they are complete.
Step 4. Monitor your email for a message from GAN Human Resources. GAN uses notify@datasltn.com or rpelagio@ganhumanresources.com as email addresses. The GAN email will provide instructions to access your Personal Experience Form. This form takes the place of an interview. Applicants have two weeks to complete the PEF from the time the email is sent. We recommend gathering documentation of education and work experience in advance of receiving the GAN email. Applicants need documentation to support their answers on the PEF. This may include unofficial transcripts, pay stubs, military discharge papers, completion certificates, letter(s) of recommendation, etc. Points will not be awarded by GAN without supporting documentation.
Step 5. The JATC will contact you by email with the date and time of your aptitude test.
Step 6. Applicants are ranked at the end of the section cycle. Those who qualify, are sent a conditional offer of apprenticeship. Those who do not qualify, are notified by email, and remain on the ranked list for possible selection during the next application cycle. Please do not expect email notification of selection before August. Applicants who remain on the two year ranked list may reapply and complete the GAN application process again to receive a new score.
